Papaya

Papaya is a mildly sweet fruit with a musky scent when ripe and green and veggie-like when unripe. The seeds inside are edible, however, typically unpleasant to chew so usually discarded. Typically used fresh or in smoothies when ripe, and fresh in salads or cooked when unripe.

Papaya is associated with potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities that could potentially provide protection against cardiovascular and neurological disorders. Its juice extracts also contain compounds potentially responsible for relaxation of vascular tissues, and may have beneficial properties in alleviating heart disease and related ailments.
